Glovers Solicitors LLP recognised in the Legal 500 Guide to the UK Legal Profession – 2017 Edition
Glovers is proud to announce that it has been ranked in the 2017 edition of the Legal 500, London section, for its expertise across its key practice areas.
The Legal 500 assesses firms not only on size and resources, but also on the extent to which a client would recommend that firm in a particular field. The partners of Glovers view the recognition as independent confirmation of the strengths of the firm and its ability to hold its own against some of the largest West End and City of London law firms.
Glovers has long held a reputation for being a market leader in the restaurant sector and this year’s Legal 500 recognises the experience and expertise of the cross departmental restaurant practice led by the “extremely swift and knowledgeable” John Barber. Glovers’ “strong leisure practice” includes critically acclaimed destination restaurants as well as casual dining companies and start-ups.
The Legal 500 further comments that Glovers’ “reactive and available” commercial property team often handles complex development work for contractors such as Sir Robert McAlpine and Cove Construction. Partner Andrew Nicklinson is quoted as being “diligent and thorough”.
Retail specialist Philip Mundy, who joined the firm from Fladgate LLP in April 2015, provides “pragmatic legal analysis” to retailers. This has led to Glovers being recognised for the first time for its retail work. Clients include Jack Wolfskin, Giuseppe Zanotti Design, agnès b. and Bayley & Sage.
Glovers’ strength and expertise in the property finance sector has once again been independently verified by the Legal 500, which states that the “very knowledgeable, speedy and partner-led” practice at “real estate boutique” Glovers Solicitors LLP is particularly experienced in residential development finance and investment loans. Group head Andrew Parker and partner Liza-Lam Kee are recommended. Darran Smith, who joined Glovers from Fladgate LLP as a partner in September 2017, is recognised by clients as someone who “goes the extra mile”.
Glovers is also ranked for property litigation. Its “team of skilled litigators” is said to be “knowledgeable, sensible and practical”, with practice head Edward Vaughan being described as “the kind of person you want on your side when you have difficult opposition thanks to his ability to adeptly cut through the issues to work out a commercial solution”. Fellow litigation partner Kenny Friday is quoted as being “very solid and possibly the calmest solicitor in the market”.
